Dedicated to someone special

I haven't written anything in a while. Poetry is less these days as I have many other things to worry about. I felt, however, that it was relevant if I wrote something today. It's in memory of someone, and I'm not sure if it sums up how much he meant to people or not, but I gave it my best shot.

Remember him

Remember him –
For his spirit was what he is now,
His heart so full; it’s unknown how.
A hand so warm with powers so grand,
For he stood tall and took his stand

Remember him –
His eyes have grown wider this day,
To watch our souls and guide our ways.
Silent now, yet oh so loud,
And those who knew him may stand proud

Remember him –
For even now he’s here with us,
And his dear nature may be discussed.
Remember he who bought a smile,
For all those times are still worthwhile.

First poem of 2012

Celebrate, ladies and gentlemen - I have a poem for you all. It's a special one...it's the first this year. I want to make this year amazing. I want to improve my writing, and I want to do more. I'm forever looking for inspiration, and it doesn't matter what. If I can write about it, it's good. And here we are, a brand new poem from something tiny. This year I want to be able to write enough to hopefully send something off to someone and maybe, JUST maybe, I might make something of 2012.

Anyway! Down to business. This will be the last poem for at least a couple of weeks. I have final exams next week and I need to spend my time focused on that. YEAH RIGHT. I'm not confident at all and I bet I still don't revise enough. I'll try though. I just need to talk while I revise and not spend hours revising hard to get an E. I'm not sour about it at all, I swear. Ahem. Anyway. On with the show.

This is called 'Distant'.

He sits outside the city; the man within his home,
And he watches all the people go through life alone.
He’s alive and yet not living, while he fills his head with fear;
Fear of being the same because the road ahead’s not clear.
His shadow is possessed with the demons of his nightmares;
Those that push him under the world for which he cares.

To be alive is blessed, and yet life passes by.
He’s too afraid to live but yet so afraid to die.
He passes all the silver and dismisses all the gold;
Flies by all the diamonds and eventually grows old.
Wrinkles tell no stories and yet his eyes have seen so much;
He fingers tips burnt by the fire he did not touch.

1000 views!

Hey, beautiful readers!

Tbh there probably aren't many of you that check back here much. But! None the less, I have reached the fantastic 1000th view. Thanks to Shannon for that! But seriously, that's amazing. It's not much to many people but to me it's brilliant, and I want to thank each and every viewer, whether you've only ever been here once, or whether you check back a lot. I couldn't have gotten there without you.

Happy New Year too! 2012 is going to be brilliant, hopefully, and I'm hoping that everyone had a wonderful holiday period, and is ready to start the new year with a smile on their face. Honestly it's the most beautiful thing you can wear. Even if last year dealt you some rubbish, remember it's all in the past now! Each one of you are special, and I'm proud to call you my readers. =3

Keep those views coming guys! I want to get even further this year, I need your support. :)

Updates and a poem =]

I can't believe it's been nearly a month since I posted! Actually, I lie. I can. It's felt like ages! I've been moaning at myself mentally that I don't write enough or update you enough. I'm sorry! I've been lacking inspiration and stuff, so there hasn't been much to actually update you on. Additionally, I've had so much work to do it's unreal. Sixth form is definitely demanding!

Anyway! I do have a poem for you today which I wrote yesterday in my free lesson. It's probably not my best but I don't hate it. I guess that's a good thing if nothing else, huh?! Hopefully you'll like it to. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Before I post it, I'll give you the boring update you all love. I'm revising for mock exams at the moment. They start on Monday. I'm dreading it. Wish me luck, I'll need it. XD Um. Not really much else I have to say. But it's Christmas soon! As much as I'm not a fan of it, I wish everyone a really good day and a merry Christmas. I hope you get what you want and give what you want. =D

So! The moment you've all been waiting for. *Drum roll*........

This one's called 'Stars are always brightest in the dark'.
Enjoy!!

Miles stretch out ahead,
Consumes, it seems, with this routine.
You know the one; those things they said,
The rooms with windows that cant be seen;
Ones in which the door just fades away,
Disappears. Vanishes. No way out.
No gap in the brick for breeze of the day,
Or air to breathe so you may shout.
No corners or curves, or passers by
Or places to rest. It’s always the way.
Never without blur or questioning why –
Why what? Does it matter anyway?

The stars are shining. In the room a candle’s lit.
They’re only small ones. The flames hardly dance.
They’re easily missed, but glorious when you see it.
They’re hope in the form of fire – they’re chance.
If the road was illuminated the stars would be useless.
If the room had windows the candles would be worthless.
Gold on the spots of life that they’ve marked
Prove stars are always brightest in the dark.

Oh, one more thing! Check out my Best friends new blog. She's amazing, and I mean that. She posts up loads of drawings that she does, and I swear to god, she's brilliant. She has a hell of a talent, and she deserves it to be seen! If you're interested in art, or even just want to be nice and have a look, it's well worth it.

Thanks a lot guys! Comment, share... you know the drill!
Love you all. =D

Long wait.

Heyy. :)

So it's been a bit of a wait. I've had a poem to post for a while now and I just haven't gotten around to it. I guess I'm not as enthusiastic about blogging lately. Sorry! I feel like people must get bored is all. So many other blogs have such amazing things to say - they're entertaining, people like to read them etc. Mine is the same all the time and it's not like I'm the best poet around either. None the less, I will try to carry on updating you with things. I have got something to post you here today, and I do hope you enjoy it.

Now to find it...

Ah, here we go. I think.

I'm not a fan of this one. It's not one of my best at all but it's something I guess. It's not my worst I don't think. Here goes anyways. It's called 'The same as you and I'. Enjoy.

Small child tucks away her identity,
Tries to cut off their fuel for laughter,
Cuddles into shadows that hang over the city,
To hide away from their witty slaughter.

Creased paper for a brain at their hands –
Apologising does nothing when scars are left behind.
Easy targets are those who cannot stand,
And whose voice, when lost, is not possible to find.

Don’t they look the same as you and I?
Scribbles mark a past, not weakness.
And when injured birds return to the sky,
The world should stand; a proud eye witness.

I used Latin. :D

I feel so smart because this poem uses latin. It's quite different to my usual poems, it's a different structure and the rhyming is unusual. But I like it. I wrote it at like 10:30 last night, so it's not bad. XD I like Latin stuff. I don't have much else to say, so I'll spare you the torture of listening to me waffle and ramble on about nothing, slightly like I am now...

The poem is called 'Going on forever'. It's the translation roughly of the last line. Enjoy. =)

Whispers in the ear of a stranger

sing lullabies from hushed lips

in the breeze. Spine chilling

calm carried within the melodies

whoosh her to sleep. Dream, she

does, of the land where time does

not exist. Peep into the imagination

where therapeutic harmonies are

able to twist around the mind. Engulf

it in inspiration, where anything is

possible, and where things that are

lost are easy to find. Heaven is real.

It’s there, it’s unstoppable, it’s

ad infinitum.
